We already know Queenstown is more than a ski town. But in case there was any doubt, our friends at Escape set out to prove that our favourite alpine retreat is just as good without the snow.
Pour yourself a glass of chilled Central Otago rosé and check out our pick of summer activities for the most discerning of QTies.
Stargazing: When the snow melts off the mountains, the ski resorts are still open for business. Cardrona Alpine Resort offers one of the best stargazing experiences to take in the southern sky. With the minimal light pollution in this magical alpine destination, you can observe just fine with your naked eyes, but the guided tour gives you access to a top of the line telescope.
Vantage point: No trip to Queenstown would be complete without conquering Queenstown Hill. Ride the Skyline Queenstown gondola, or for a cardio fix earn your view by walking the trail. The trek starts on Belfast Street and climbs to the Basket of Dreams lookout.
Indulgent sanctuary: You need to know about this boutique day spa nestled in the cliffs above the Shotover River. At Onsen, 14 private cedar hot tubs all offer uninterrupted views while you soak away the day. You can even book an evening experience to linger by lantern light.
Day trip: Arrowtown, you have our heart. This 19th-century gold rush town has certainly left its legacy. It’s home to the Lakes District Museum & Gallery, and there’s no shortage of local dining and shopping along Heritage Buckingham Street.
Still need help narrowing it down? We’ve got you. Ask for a Director of Adventure and they can point you in the right direction.
