As the Sydney summer reaches its peak, QT Bondi, the latest offering from the quirky but cool QT Hotels & Resorts group, will open its doors in perfect synergy and for the first time, including those to its 69 luxury guest suites within, all of which deliver the high style values and edgy attention to detail synonymous with this ground breaking hospitality brand.
Australia’s most iconic beach, and a much favoured tourist destination, sees the opening of QT Bondi not a moment too soon. Bondi’s legendary laid back lifestyle – equal parts relaxed Bohemia and cutting-edge cool – has long been a magnet, although as many would attest, this popular urban oasis has fallen far short in terms of quality hotel offerings thus far, and certainly those with the boutique credentials much favoured by today’s more discerning travellers.
Stay cool, calm with eclectic interiors by renowned hotel designer Nic Graham and art by celebrated Australian-born London-based artist Shaun Gladwell, the hotel embraces new technology, distinctive art and cutting edge design, whilst retaining QT’s distinctive sense of quirk, fun and unique design philosophy.
QT Bondi has white base palette and popping pastels with light wooden installations in the open spaces and décor with a playful beachside edge, which exude vibrancy and transience – the lobby installations by Shaun Gladwell, who works with video and new media, creates a design punch on arrival.
“Shaun Gladwell draws extensively on the intense physical energy of the local context, blending kinetic movement with the landscape to evoke a brooding almost calming and still sense of romance” said Amanda Love, QT Hotels & Resorts Art Curator. “This provides a fascinating juxtaposition against the almost extreme sport experience to provide a thoughtfully measured perspective that truly connects with the Bondi experience.”
Moving away from the bore of normal hospitality ‘uniforms’, renowned costume designer, Janet Hine has created hotel ‘characters’ jam-packed with buoyancy and boldness which encapsulate the Bondi lifestyle.
“Bondi Beach and its surrounding community is undeniably a unique and quintessentially Australian experience, and it seems only fitting that a brand such as ours in QT Hotels & Resorts, and which has earned a reputable niche for its quirky, individual style and edgy aesthetic, now serves this special destination with an offering befitting its unique character”, says David Seargeant, Group Managing Director.
QT Bondi falls part of the much anticipated Pacific Bondi development, the first and major stages of which will open coinciding with that of the hotel. Encompassing XX residential apartments and a variety of retail and restaurant offerings including those along its beach facing façade of Campbell Parade, QT Bondi occupies the North Western corner bordered by Beach Road and Gould Streets, with water glimpses enjoyed by those along the Beach Road frontage.
“Like all QT properties, QT Bondi offers a totally subversive experience into the immediate community that is Bondi. More than simply the beach, Bondi’s legendary lifestyle, thick with a teaming café culture, burgeoning restaurant scene, inspiring range of outdoor activities, and plethora of cool shopping destinations has made this one of the most coveted seaside suburbs in the whole of Australia”, David continues.
Unlike some resorts which are more often than not manifested by the adjacent beach or large scale pool as its primary attraction, and with minimal other recreational pursuits, Bondi is absolutely bursting with cultural and entertainment activities across all levels. It in no small way has led to real estate values reaching record prices in recent years, such is the aspirational lifestyle now associated with this once working class suburb.
Like most other QT properties, QT Bondi’s propensity for a truly submersive experience in the local community will be key but much more profound given the hotel’s strategy not to incorporate in-house food & drink offerings of its own.
“In assessing the potential, it became clear that the true attraction of this hotel experience lies in the myriad of food & drink offerings on the QT Bondi doorstep, with the property’s greater footprint therefore better given over to increased accommodation”, said David Seargeant
Indeed, the 69 luxury suites deliver all any beachside seeking traveller might wish for…and more. Each guest suite comes with a kitchenette for a relaxed in-house dining at leisure, from casual breakfasting to a relaxed dinner as one may choose, and using the stellar array of leading food destinations surrounding, from butchers and fishmongers, to quality fruit & vegetable purveyors, as well as an enormous selection of groceries stores, charcuteries, bottle shops, and other specialist retailers.
Now open for bookings on +61 2 8362 3900 or qtbondi.com.au from December 17 and from Monday December 21 everyone will be able to experience the Bondi lifestyle from $280!
