Rooftop At QT Opens The Doors To Extraordinary

Posted on: 10 October 2023

Glowing in a new light, QT Melbourne has raised the bar again. A fresh chapter for this iconic rooftop destination begins with a reinvigorated drink program, newly inspired menu and vibrant interior design.

Rooftop at QT will transcend the ordinary; opening its doors to levitated luxury on October 13, ushering in a new era for QT Melbourne’s iconic rooftop. Heading for higher ground, Melbourne’s esteemed locale is home to bold new cocktails rooted in the familiar, and savours food of the sun from the Mediterranean. The reimagined rooftop includes intimate alcoves featuring private booths, a private lounge and outdoor bar, blended with modern design and bespoke art.

Stepping out to unparalleled cityscape surrounds, guests will see eye-to-eye with Melbourne’s iconic skyline at Rooftop at QT. A vista to unravel the senses, QT Melbourne welcomes the city’s denizens and taste makers from first glance to last dance for the ultimate sky-high seduction.

Elevated Drink Experiences
Raising the bar for Rooftop at QT’s beverage program, award-winning Food & Beverage Director, Chris Stock leads the charge on refreshed cocktails driven by inclusivity and celebration. With something for everyone, for every occasion, Rooftop at QT’s statement cocktail menu has been developed to show an appreciation for a touch of nostalgia and the familiar. Here, mixed with new drink innovation and bold ingredients, this creative drinks program is where whimsical and fantastical flavours collide with Instagrammable moments.

Available as single serves or shared for up to six people, signature cocktails include Son of Man (Bacardi Carta Blanca, Lillet Blanc, clarified apple and lime, basil oil), an elevated serve of the classic Daiquiri named after Margritte’s painting, featuring a basil oil tincture for an aromatic drinking experience; and Bulleit Punch (Bulleit Rye whiskey, Mr Black coffee liqueur, orange and miso syrup, clarified cream), a bold new take on the Espresso Martini.

Food to Share
From lunchtime libations to sunset grazing, the menu will boast Snacks to generous share plates kissed by the Mediterranean; expertly curated by recently appointed Executive Chef, Nic Wood. Signature dishes include Snapper Cannoli with BBQ jalapeno, preserved lemon and crème fraiche; Fried Mortadella Sando with provolone, BBQ sauce and pepperoncini; Lobster Cocktail with Southern Rock lobster, cognac-horseradish Marie Rose, endive and salmon pearls and a delectable Ice Cream Sandwich with shortbread and lemon-mascarpone ice cream.

Design and Atmosphere
At the heart of Rooftop at QT, Andrew Lewis, QT’s Music Curator, brings to life new playlists programmed to capture the time of the day by vibe and tempo, crossing cultures and breaking down stereotypes. Daytime is chill, easy and feel-good – perfect for a sun-soaked rooftop. The tempo kicks a notch up as the sun goes down with a revolving line-up of late-night DJs. Transition from sun light to moonlight with a modern take on the new playlist, heavily influenced by vintage disco, boogie, and soul with an electronic edge.

Long-time QT collaborator and award-winning designer, Nic Graham is at the helm of the interior elevation of Rooftop at QT; revitalising the space with a blend of modern design and artistic vision. Newly introduced booth seating allows for intimate group gatherings while embracing the buzz of the open venue. Bookings and indulgent table service are also now available for the first time at the rooftop. For those after something a little more hush-hush, there is the private lounge. The reeded glass doors are a slide away from a hideaway for up to 40 revellers.

Bringing Melbourne’s art culture to life, local artist Dwayne Hutton’s captivating art and hand painted bespoke wallpaper, cascades across the ceiling and further evolves digitally throughout the space. Dwayne has drawn on the electric atmosphere and ambience of Rooftop at QT, with music serving as his muse and the rooftop playlist as rhythmic inspiration to evoke moody, textured, and dynamic creations. Drawing from the bar’s palette, Dwayne has juxtaposed shades of pink and blue to create compositions which draw guests closer, unveiling intricate details, dynamic movements and rich textures that beckon exploration.

The venue boasts contemporary furniture, updated upholstery, and modern lighting – repurposing original pieces and giving them a second life as part of the QT’s overall sustainability goals. Entering a circular economy, the hotel has partnered with industry experts, Tait, who design and manufacture in Melbourne, for fit-for-purpose interiors.

QT Melbourne’s General Manager, Kristen Foat shares, “The inspiration behind Rooftop at QT’s transformation lies in embracing the allure of rooftop culture, providing a venue for private moments and lively parties with friends you haven’t met yet. The striking art installations and elevated booths, offer a fresh perspective of the lively bar scene embodying the essence of the new design, complemented with bold twists on nostalgic cocktail favourites and our flavourful new bar menu.”

Shimmy in day or night and raise a glass to any moment you like. It’s time to rise and shine. The Rooftop at QT Melbourne is now open.
