Following the news of Tropfest’s triumphant return this Valentine’s Day,  Sydney’s hip designer hotel QT Sydney is excited to announce another creative collaboration with its official partnership of Tropfest 2016, one of Australia’s most prestigious cultural events and the largest short film festival in the world.

A hub of culture and ingenuity, QT Sydney presents the perfect partner for the festival, which is recognised for its enormous contribution to the development of the Australian film industry. Now in it’s 23rd year, Tropfest provides unique platforms for emerging filmmakers through its events and initiatives, giving Australian voice a platform to be heard right across the world.

“We are thrilled to have QT Sydney on board again this year and for their ongoing support. With a shared appreciation for individuality and the arts the alignment couldn’t be a better fit. Their support and involvement as official hotel partner is an important part of Tropfest,” says Tropfest Director & Founder, John Polson

Located in the heart of the CBD, QT Sydney is rich in history melding two of Sydney’s grandest and most prominent buildings – the State Theatre and Gowings Building. Both buildings holding a place steeped within Sydney’s rich cultural history, with the State Theatre being one of the country’s first large scale theatrical spaces. Over 80 years on, the organisations within the building continue to support Sydney’s burgeoning art community.

Built with the creative industries in mind, QT Sydney boasts cutting edge art, design and ideas featuring LED digital art, bespoke furniture and a bold colour palette. QT Sydney’s Reel Room, steeped in wartime cinematic history, has also sprung back to life as a private screening room which will become a viewing hub for Tropfest events in the lead up to the festival.

Tropfest attracts a live national audience of around 150,000 people on a single night, and reaches even more short film fans via the national broadcast on free-to-air TV channel SBS 2. This year, on Sunday 14 February, the festival will be hosted at Sydney’s Centennial Park, with live screenings in in major cities across Australia including Melbourne, Canberra, Perth, Hobart, Darwin and Surfers Paradise.

In celebration of the event, QT Sydney has created the ultimate Tropfest Sleepover package for Tropfest attendees wanting to hit the hay after a massive night of short films. Prices start at the special rate of $399 for one night and the package includes exclusive access to Gold Grass seating at Tropfest, and access to the VIP after party at QT Sydney’s intimate late night Gilt Lounge. QT is also throwing in breakfast and parking – perfect for a romantic stay for two or movie lovers alike!
