QT Hotels & Resorts has announced the signature restaurant and rooftop bar venues set to open at the highly-anticipated QT Newcastle on June 9. QT Newcastle promises an escape with new beginnings and renewal at the forefront. Under the direction of internationally acclaimed Chef Massimo Speroni, signature restaurant, Jana, and Rooftop at QT, will elevate Newcastle’s burgeoning food and drink scene.
Modern Australian bar and grill, Jana, will be the latest addition to join the collection’s stable of award-winning dining destinations. Perched atop QT and loved for its creative drink lists and curated menus, the Rooftop at QT has become synonymous with the QT experience. In Newcastle, the rooftop offering will take cues from the land of the rising sun.
Executive Chef Massimo Speroni comes direct from multi-award winning Brisbane restaurant, Bacchus. He brings with him star-studded experience – from the 2 Michelin-starred restaurant San Domenico in Imola, Italy, and the 1 Michelin-starred restaurant Café le Paillotes in Pescara.
Speroni says, “True to the QT philosophy, QT Newcastle will offer a highly inventive food and beverage experience, highlighting local provenance. QT is a champion for providing extraordinary experiences with a touch of luxury and quirk, from design to signature service. I’m excited to showcase and champion the beautiful Hunter Valley and surrounding regions.”
Meet the many phases of Jana
QT Newcastle’s signature restaurant Jana, celebrates local provenance with an approachable, produce- led menu showcasing premium ingredients found in the earth, on the land and oceans of the region. Jana takes its place as a new custodian of the building, inviting guests with familiarity of flavours, in an elevated bar and grill offering. Guests will be welcomed by the warmth of an open kitchen, dry-aged meat cabinet, and a unique experience with a nod to the past and future.
At the heart of this bar and grill is the uncompromising steak offering, which has been curated with local producers and providores at the helm; the premium steak selection has been sourced entirely from New South Wales; 2GR, Riverine, Jack’s Creek, Rangers Valley, the lamb travels forty minutes from Pukara Estate.
The goddess which Jana is named after, is represented with two faces, one facing the past and one the present. Her traditional offering is wine, and this emergence of old and new, extends to the hotel’s wine partner, Tyrell’s. QT’s Director of Beverage, Chris Morrison says on the partnership, “Tyrell’s are custodians of Australia’s oldest wine region, the Hunter Valley, and continue to remerge as innovators in the industry. Both are well established and respected in their own right. QT and Tyrell’s are well-matched in growth and values.”
Jana will feature a stunning private dining room, eye-catching artwork and new world charm, created by the QT design team and collaborator, Nic Graham.
Newcastle’s highest open-air rooftop, Rooftop at QT
The jewel in the crown of QT Newcastle, the East End’s new playground is the Rooftop at QT, boasting uninterrupted views across the harbour.
Rooftop revelry meets innovative izakaya, Rooftop at QT will pay homage to the artistry of a QT cocktail, which will complement a sophisticated local wine offering, and comprehensive spirit collection; sake, umeshu and Newcastle’s largest library of Japanese Whisky. From Harajuku Highball to a Tomasu Margarita, the food is complemented with Japanese-inspired flavours featuring salmon sashimi, yakitori chicken and miso eggplant robata skewers, to enjoy as day transitions into night.
