QT Singapore is set to shake up the vibrant cityscape – arriving in Singapore for the first time in September 2024
SINGAPORE, 23 May 2024 – Get ready to be swept off your feet as QT Hotels & Resorts, one of Australia and New Zealand’s most well-loved hotel brands, unleashes its boldest venture yet, QT Singapore.
As part of EVT, a leading Australian hospitality company, QT Singapore is breaking new ground in Southeast Asia, promising guests an unparalleled experience where luxury meets eccentricity in the most visionary way.
This is the designer hotel collections’ first property in Southeast Asia, and first which expands outside of Australia and New Zealand. QT Singapore will see the culturally rich site of the former Hotel Telegraph transformed into the Group’s newest hub of playful luxury, with a full-scale refurbishment currently underway. Renowned for distinctive design, immersive experiences, and exceptional ‘unexpected and unrequested’ signature service, the multi-award-winning QT plans to reignite premium designer lifestyle accommodation in Southeast Asia.
Located next to Lau Pa Sat hawker centre, one of Singapore’s landmark attractions, and in the heart of the world-famous financial district, the hotel will offer effortless convenience for corporate and leisure guests. Delivering QT’s bold and creatively charged hospitality to the global gateway destination, and designed in partnership with renowned interior designer Nic Graham, QT Singapore will feature luxurious guest rooms and suites, a ‘Rooftop by QT’ bar and pool, and a premium fitness facility, whilst boasting design-led public spaces, including a new signature bar & grill, as well as bespoke dining for intimate celebrations and formal business meetings. With more details to come, the bar and grill will nod to the property’s heritage.
Callum Kennedy, Group General Manager of EVT Hotels & Resorts says, “We’re excited by the liveliness QT will bring to Singapore’s diverse tourism landscape and ever-evolving metropolis later this year. QT Singapore will be championed by QT’s luxurious quirk, from fashion-led design to signature service and exciting collaborations, bringing the QT energy and vibrancy guests around the world love, to be discovered by locals and travellers in Southeast Asia.”
Charles Tan of Sunray Singapore, hotel owner says, “We are thrilled to introduce QT to the dynamic city of Singapore, in collaboration with EVT and Sunray Singapore. With its rich cultural tapestry and vibrant energy, Singapore is the perfect canvas for the QT brand to weave its magical guest experiences. EVT’s expertise in the Australasian hospitality industry, coupled with Sunray’s shared commitment to innovation and excellence – having the extensive experience of major restoration heritage icons of Singapore like Raffles Singapore and National Gallery Singapore – ensures that QT Singapore will set a new standard for premium designer lifestyle accommodation in the Asia-Pacific region.”
Over the past decade, QT Hotels & Resorts has pioneered the philosophy of ‘expect the unexpected’, with every property delivering a guest experience which combines local influences and lashings of signature quirk, ensuring every hotel has its own unique and distinctive personality.
QT Singapore will be no different. Brimming with character, the hotel promises an escape that reflects its surroundings with an eclectic blend of art, design, fashion, and innovation, evolving as part of the city-state’s cultural fabric.
Whilst the interior designs are still under wraps, the hotel will retain the captivating neo-classical façade and architecture of the four-storey colonial heritage building, which was first built in 1927 and played an influential role in Singapore’s telecommunication history for nearly a century. With prior conservation-led restorations, the transition to a luxurious designer QT hotel marks a fascinating new chapter for the property.
Alongside the news of their international expansion, QT announces the appointment of award-winning general manager Doron Whaite as General Manager of QT Singapore. With 20 years’ experience in hospitality and numerous senior management positions across the Group, Whaite brings extensive venue opening and hotel transformation experience.
Recognised for his leadership and unparalleled commercial and operational expertise, Whaite shares his excitement on the international expansion, “QT Singapore has limitless potential and I look forward to evolving this historic property into its next iconic era. We are passionate about creating luxurious, memorable moments for our guests with a uniquely Singaporean twist”.
QT Singapore is poised to make its official debut at 35 Robinson Road on 16 September, redefining the hospitality experience in the heart of the city. More details on the highly anticipated grand opening will be released soon.
