To support Movember, QT Hotels in New Zealand are transforming their signature bars into pop-up tattoo parlours, inviting guests to be inked by celebrity tattoo artist, Lauren Winzer, all in the name of men’s health.
This November, the Sydney-based tattoo trailblazer will be travelling across the ditch for Inked, a series of events taking place at QT Auckland, QT Wellington and QT Queenstown. Inked will see each hotel host a day of ink, art, beats, eats and moustache treats. More than skin deep, QT will be raising funds for Movember, a global charity which aims to drive awareness and support for men’s health. “Movember” is a portmanteau of “moustache” and “November”, highlighting the charity’s signature campaign where men grow moustaches during the month of November to spark conversations and draw attention to men’s health issues.
Flash tattoos have been designed exclusively for each hotel, priced at $100, with 100% of the tattoo proceeds being donated to Movember. With an impressive black book of celebrity clientele, Lauren has made her mark on the likes of Miley Cyrus, Post Malone, Joe Jonas, Sophie Turner, Kelly Rowland, and Toni Collette. With limited bookings available, guests are encouraged to book in quick, so they too can be inked by the same talent as their favourite A-lister.
Local artists have also put their art forward to support the cause; Auckland’s king of fine-line tattoos, Tri of Tri-lines and Evander will be tattooing at QT Auckland, with multi award-winning artist Rua Toto and Jeremy Hill from Otautahi tattoo studio in Queenstown joining the buzz for those game to get a permanent mo-mento.
“I’m so excited to be coming to New Zealand and partnering with QT Hotels on this initiative. It is a meaningful way that I can support and drive awareness to men’s health through my craft. Mental health is a subject close to my heart. It’s so important to take care of yourself, and everyone deserves to enjoy the things they work so hard for, but not everyone has the tools to do so. Tattoos have the power to tell stories, and by getting a tattoo at Inked, you’ll be getting a piece of art that shows support for a cause that truly matters.” says Lauren Winzer, guest tattooist.
To needle or not, QT are encouraging everyone to come along to their closest Inked event for entertainment, speciality cocktails and food menus that will see a portion of proceeds being donated back to the charity.
In a nod to Movember’s moustached mahi, mo’ grooming stations will be set up at each event, courtesy of Triumph & Disaster; Michter’s Distillery will be hosting free tasting sessions; and QT will be running a competition set to crown the best ‘taches in New Zealand. QT Auckland will see Jo Bro’s Burgers take over the Rooftop at QT kitchen with a special fried chicken burger menu and Jupiter Project will be on the decks. Danny Atkinson and friends will set the acoustic tone to Inked at Reds Bar, QT Queenstown and QT Wellington’s Hot Sauce will be slinging their Feelin’ Crabby burger for the occasion.
“As a brand that celebrates individuality in a world less ordinary, teaming up with Lauren is an extension of our love for design and art, and a celebration of its many different forms, all for a great cause. Inked is a novel and fun way for us to show our support, get others involved, and shine a light on Movember”, says Danelle Ayers, Head of Brand & Marketing for QT Hotels.
To further bolster fundraising efforts, QT Hotels have partnered with Michter’s Distillery. A menu of signature American whiskey and bourbon-based cocktails will be available at signature bars throughout November, where $2 of every cocktail sold will be donated to the cause.
Inked will take place at Hot Sauce, QT Wellington on Saturday the 11th; Rooftop at QT, QT Auckland, on Sunday the 12th and Reds Bar, QT Queenstown on Saturday the 18th of November. Flash tattoos are limited, and spots are available to book now on qthotels.com.
