QT Canberra’s Capitol Bar & Grill Awarded Best-Of-Class at Awards For Excellence 2023

QT Canberra’s signature venue, Capitol Bar & Grill, was acknowledged as the winners of ‘Steak Restaurant’ and ‘Restaurant in a Hotel’ at the Restaurant & Catering Hostplus Awards for Excellence 2023. Held last night, the awards recognise restaurants, cafes and caterers for their dedication to exceptional food and outstanding service in this vibrant industry across metropolitan and regional centres in the ACT.

Underpinned with a robust prime cut steak and wine program, bold flavours meet modern Australian dining at Capitol Bar & Grill. Led by Executive Chef Michael Box, his expertise, leadership and commitment to quality has resulted in Capitol being recognised for its quality proteins for a third year in the row.

“To win the award for the best Steak Restaurant and Restaurant in a Hotel in the Capital is a testament to the QT Canberra team, especially our kitchen brigade and Michael Box as a leader. Under Michael’s direction, the protein program has been curated and strengthened through relationships with suppliers and providores. Capitol’s most-loved, dry aged New York sirloin and T-bone are sourced from Markus Papadopoulos of Whole Beast Butchery in Marrickville. The primal cuts, rib eyes, sirloins and short rib are Portoro Beef, whose tailored feeding programs are gold standard in the industry. Working closely with the team at Andrews Meat Industries, Sydney, Capitol delivers the best in the market.

This year, Capitol Bar & Grill was a finalist in three out of 11 Restaurant Awards categories, where judges evaluated on a set of criteria including service, food, beverage, staff, hygiene, restaurant presentation and the overall dining experience.
