QT Auckland launches New Zealand’s Biggest QT StayCay

Posted on: 27 October 2020
To celebrate the opening of New Zealand’s third QT, the hotel is giving away 150 rooms with a five day treasure hunt.

With doors set to open in November, the highly-anticipated QT Auckland invites locals to explore the city centre for a chance to be a part of New Zealand’s Biggest QT Staycay. To celebrate the opening of the third QT hotel in New Zealand, QT Auckland is giving away the entire hotel, with 150 room keys to be found.

For the next five days, lucky locals can locate special QT Auckland posters shaped as doors, where keys are safely secured within lock boxes. To win a key, all treasure hunters need to do is crack the code.

The posters offer a hint of the beauty that lies within QT Auckland, Viaduct Harbour’s newest hub for quirky luxury. QT has pioneered the philosophy of ‘expect the unexpected’, with the posters daring prospective winners to explore what’s behind closed doors.

QT Auckland General Manager, Doran Whaite says they always like to do things differently at QT when it comes to hotel launches.

“QT is all about loving local. With a focus on our community, we wanted to surprise Aucklanders with a chance to be among the first to experience what QT’s ‘far from ordinary’ philosophy is all about. We’re spending more time in our own backyard with weekend travel and staycations becoming the norm. What better way to treat our locals than to a luxuriously quirky stay with us.”

There are 30 keys to be found per day across the five days, and each key rewards the finder with a one night free stay. One code is released daily from the QT Auckland Staycay website, and is used to crack the lock boxes for that day.

Exact locations are under wraps but as a clue, posters with attached lock boxes can be found in the suburbs of Auckland CBD, Wynyard Quarter, Ponsonby, Grey Lynn, Newmarket and Kingsland.

“We’re certainly launching an unexpected opportunity for locals to win a chance to stay, and we’re excited to give them a taste of the first ever QT Staycay. We can’t wait to welcome our QT Staycay winners.” concludes Whaite.

New Zealand’s Biggest QT Staycay runs from 27 to 31 October.

Notes to editors:
The posters are part of the Phantom Billstickers network with 70 QT Auckland posters going up across Auckland. Fifteen of these posters will have the lock boxes. One code released per day on QT Auckland Staycay website from 9am. The activation ran for five days from Tuesday 27 October to Friday 31 October. All winners must be over 18 years old and only one key can be redeemed per person to ensure as many locals get the chance to experience this unique offer. Drivers licence and credit card will be required when redeeming the prize. Winners have 12 months to redeem their one night stay with an end date of 31 October 2021.

QT Auckland is being developed in partnership with Russell Property Group and Lockwood Property Group. Located at 4 Viaduct Harbour Avenue, QT Auckland will be the tenth QT Hotel and the third in New Zealand, joining QT Wellington and QT Queenstown.
