Introducing Queensland’s Quirkiest Role: QT Gold Coast’s Director Of Sunshine

Posted on: 18 November 2020

If you can outshine anyone in the room, come armed with a sunny disposition and a flair for poolside showmanship, QT Gold Coast wants you for their quirkiest role yet; Director of Sunshine.

Part concierge, part food and beverage expert, the Director of Sunshine brings a little magic to each stay, tackling guest’s poolside requests to deliver a ray of sunshine to their summer holiday at QT Gold Coast’s newly refurbished luxury pool precinct; The Spring. Towel animals, colour-sorted M&M’s and dramatic cocktails in a pineapple, bring it on.

With theatrical flair, the Director of Sunshine will deliver unforgettable welcomes, tips to The Spring’s best cocktails and lead summer activities at the QT’s new outdoor bar The Green. They’re an expert on poolside fun after all.

Fearless and fashionable in a bespoke costume, the ideal candidate will spark joy for authentic enjoyment, not for the sound of applause. Whether they’re offering a complimentary sunglasses polish, handing out sunscreen or iced towels, delivering a well-placed aloe vera spritz or organising a poolside spaQ massage.

At The Spring indulgence is always in season, so the ideal candidate will be a champion of summer luxury. With 9 chic custom designed black and white striped cabanas, guests are invited to reserve a sundrenched afternoon in QT Gold Coast’s newly refurbished poolside precinct. They’ll assist guests and locals alike as they deep dive into cocktails created for the nostalgic Palm Springs chasers or soak up bottle service and poolside spa treatments from spaQ. All day hire starts from $50, with top tier packages ranging from $145- $360.

The ideal Director of Sunshine will be a master of ceremonies around the pool, hyping up DJ’s during QT’s Sunday Sessions (Dec 13 to Jan 10), delivering spiked Bacardi and Midori popsicles, or helping guests choose from The Spring’s lip-smackingly inviting food menu designed by Executive Chef Greg Benney and QT Hotels’ Director of Culinary Adam Petta.

The epicurean menu features Mexican infusions to Mediterranean inspired seafood delicacies and includes poolside favourites like guacamole and house fried corn chips, sweet potato fries with chipotle mayo or crispy salt and pepper baby squid. So be sure to leave room.

QT Gold Coast General Manager Steve Oakley says the Director of Sunshine will need to be an ambassador for the newly refurbished Palm Springs style venues, with a touch of QT quirk.

“You won’t find a better place to soak up the sun on the Gold Coast this summer than The Spring and our Director of Sunshine will be on hand to direct one of a kind experiences and poolside luxury our guests have come to expect from QT Gold Coast.”

As part of the auditions, prospective QT staff can expect impromptu performances and test of their summer ready attitude in order to let their sunny personality shine through.

Applicants must have a passion for the creative industries and devoted interest in exceptional hospitality, and with job descriptions like “Director of Sunshine”, you can expect the unexpected at QT.
