Introducing Barkfest: A Pawfect Afternoon At QT Canberra

Paws what you’re doing and fetch your best fur-friend immediately. The Social Dog Company has teamed up with QT Canberra to present Barkfest, a dog’s day out full of fundraising, feasting and fun. Pupping up Sunday, February 23^rd from 3 PM – 7PM in QT Canberra’s back carpark and deck area, Barkfest is officially the biggest event on your dog’s social calendar this year.

Dogs and their human guests will be invited to sit, stay and play whilst enjoying the finest food and beverages, live entertainment and four-legged activities. The afternoon’s antics will feature a puparazzi red carpet, a best dressed parade, a range of stalls hosted by dog friendly brands and organisations and an adoption wall featuring loveable rescue pups available for their forever home.

For sporty pooches, a Pawlympics Tournament will see pups show off a range of agility ticks with winners celebrated in a medal ceremony. Also turning heads and ruffling feathers on the day will be the Drags to the Rescue dog adoption parade. This segment will involve a captivating line of Drag Queens and canines, showcasing glitz, glamour and gorgeous rescue dogs in need of new homes.

Tatum Brown, Founder & Events Director of The Social Dog Company said, “Through our creative events and community involvement we are dedicated to raising valuable funds and awareness for our local shelters, rescues and rehoming organisations. Being operated by volunteers, rescue shelters often lack resources, not to mention the sad fact time is never on their or the dog’s side. Therefore, it’s extremely important to reach out to the community on a larger scale, while celebrating the companionship dogs bring us all”.

Hungry stomachs won’t be forgotten, with ample treats and eats on offer throughout the day. Peckish pups can peruse the Doggie Diner offering a menu of fancy nibbles with proceeds going to local dog rescues, Greyhound Connections and Act Rescue & Foster (ARF). Meanwhile, humans can enjoy a special street food offering from QT’s Capitol Bar and Grill with a selection of beers, wines and dog themed cocktails.

Barkfest will be Canberra’s first social dog event of its kind to be hosted in central Canberra and is an on-leash event with free entry for humans and dogs.  QT is thrilled to support the local community with a dog loving social environment in the Nation’s Capital.
