How Accommodating

Posted on: 27 August 2012

The clever details and intriguing quirks in QT Sydney’s rooms and suites don’t so much make guests at home as transport them to a whole new world of luxury indulgence.

The signature style of the 200 guest rooms is a rich palette of reds, oranges, yellows and whites. The design team has established 12 distinct room themes through the hotel’s two buildings, marrying heritage detailing with eccentric touches and embellishments.

Accommodation in the Gowings Building retains the original timber floor of the iconic department store, boards tread by millions of Sydneysiders since 1929 – the ambience is light and airy.

In the adjacent State Theatre rooms, custom-designed carpets bring a lush, embracing aesthetic. Details like bowler hat lamps and light fittings are designed surprise and delight, and quite possibly elicit a grin.

Every fixture is tailored specifically for each space. Wardrobes, bedheads, minibars and cabinets are designed with style and purpose. Dark stone bathrooms are highlighted with QT’s signature bath tubs, while the mood in the generous shower is set with sultry pin spot lighting. Elsewhere in the bathroom, collectibles and unexpected hits of colour complete the experience.

No room at QT Sydney is untouched by bespoke detailing and thoughtful design, each intended to imbue a sense of luxury in every corner.

About QT Sydney

The culmination of some hefty restoration work, the historic Gowings and State Theatre buildings in Sydney’s CBD have been artfully revamped to see the introduction of Sydney’s newest hip designer hotel, QT Sydney.

An eagerly awaited development, with the gothic façades and features of the buildings carefully returned to their former glory, whilst inside the hotel possess cutting edge art and design featuring LED digital art, bespoke furniture and a strong use of bold colours makes clever interior design central to the hotel experience. And you can’t beat the location – it couldn’t be more in the heart of the city of it tried. The bowler hat lights are a favourite cheeky touch, but there’s a huge focus on art and design here. QT isn’t just about a place to lay your head.

QT Sydney is scheduled to open in September this year and is the only Sydney hotel to be a member of the exclusive Design Hotels.
