Okay ladies. The Melbourne Cup is less than 2 months away and we are just so excited to see what glorious getups are worn on the day. This annual event is not only known as ‘the race that stops that nation’ but it’s also renowned for being one of Australia’s greatest fashion-focused events that demonstrates the essence of spring fashion in a single day.
Last year was all about pops of colour and exotic prints paired with striking accessories. Our favourite celebrity outfit from last year was the lovely Ashley Hart, who sported a spectacular printed shirt and skirt ensemble by Stella Jean. *Insert hail hands emoji*

What should the ladies of the GC be wearing this Melbourne Cup Day?
“I love seeing two piece sets and pant suits on women on cup day”
Here Here! Pant suits are the ultimate. Not only do they make your body look extremely slim and sexy, but they keep you covered from the elements on the day and you don’t have to get yourself in a sticky situation when you need to use the loo – jumpsuit wearers, you know what I’m talking about.
“Also getting creative with a head piece is key too! Think metal headwear or structured fedora style hats”
What will you be wearing Jess?
“My colour picks for Melbourne Cup Day are bright whites, soft neutrals and rusty tones”
We’re with Jess on this one. You absolutely cannot go wrong with neutrals. Soft beiges, creams and whites allow you to be super creative with your head piece and your makeup. There’s nothing better than a classic cream dress and a red lip!
What is your best fashion tip for all kinds of Melbourne Cup events?
“Stick to tradition and keep your outfit classy. If you aren’t one for following trends, I say always wear what you know suits your shape and ensure your outfit is suited to the warmer Gold Coast weather”
So there you have it girls – this year’s Melbourne Cup tips and trends as recommend by the lovely Jess Marshall. To see more of Jess, you can follow her blog by visiting jeskaalee.com, but be warned; she’s in Europe at the moment so you will experience some level of travel envy.
