Falls Creek is proud to be Australia’s home of Cross Country with 65+ km of groomed trails free to access.
This Winter why not try your hand at cross country skiing? Heading off cross country is a great way to experience all that Falls Creek has to offer. Incredible views of the Bogong High Plains and Kiewa Valley await you as you set off on the Nordic trails that border the Rocky Valley Dam. It is the perfect activity for friends and families wanting to get out and try something different this Winter.
Falls Creek boasts some of the best terrain in the country for cross country skiers with over 65km of world-class trails that are groomed and patrolled daily. Falls is also perfect for first timers with the ideally equipped “Nordic Bowl” offering excellent beginner slopes and terrain for adults and children alike. It is also conveniently located near the Falls Creek Nordic Centre at Windy Corner where you can rent gear, book a lesson or have lunch and a hot coffee.
Whether you are interested in a cruisy ski out to Wallace’s Hut, getting some instruction with the kids in the Nordic Bowl or improving your fitness for the Hoppet, Falls has everything you need. And don’t forget – TRAILS ARE FREE!!
When arriving at Falls Creek day visitors should drive though to the Windy Corner car park. The cross country ski tracks head off from outside the Nordic Centre which houses a day shelter, café, showshoe and cross country ski hire and ski school.
To access the cross country trails from the Falls Creek Village you can either ski out along the aqueduct from the top of the village, or catch a free shuttle bus to Windy Corner from the bottom of the Gully, Falls Creek Express Chairlifts or outside the Accommodation Transfer Terminal.
At Windy Corner you can organise everything you need from gear hire through to private and group lessons. It is also right next to the Nordic Bowl which is the best place to go for your first time.
Not so confident on skis? No problem! Falls Creek has a great range of nordic sports available, including snowshoeing. With a pair of our modern snowshoes you can traverse the high plains and experience all that Falls Creek has to offer.
Snowshoes are available from the Nordic Centre at Windy Corner and can be used to trek two new dedicated snowshoe tracks. These are rated for beginners and intermediates.
